Walk the Rob Roy Way with Scotland's Highlands - 11 Days
This walk follows the tracks and paths used by Rob Roy MacGregor in the 17th & 18th centuries as he worked, fought and lived the life of Scotland's most notorious outlaw. The paths were also well used by other historical characters throughout the Jacobite uprisings, and the feuds between the local clans. Sense the history of Scotland as you travel through glens, along rivers & burns and past mountains & lochs. Soak up some of Scotland's greatest scenery.
Fly into Glasgow and out of Edinburgh, we'll be taking you from the airport to Drymen, the beginning of the Rob Roy Way with views over Loch Lomond at the first of two Scottish National Parks. The village is fascinating and we'll have drinks and dinner so you can meet your fellow walkers before we begin the journey in the morning.
All luggage is brought each day to our next accommodation so all you'll need will be a small backpack enough to hold water, a packed lunch, fruits and any snacks, as well as a camera if you want to take pictures of this beautiful landscape packed with Glacial features.
We'll head into Stirlingshire, the heart of Scotland and we'll be spending some time there. The route leads us north-west finishing in Pitlochry where there's the Salmon Ladder, the famous Hydro Electric Dam built to support Highland jobs in the 1950s, some great cafes, Victorian architecture and two Highland Distilleries, something we may know a thing or two about. If the ladies prefer a cream liqueur rather than a single malt, Edradour produces the finest in the world. You'll never drink Baileys on ice again.
We'll visit both distilleries so you can compare Edradour and Blair Atholl.
On Day One you'll check in, relax and get familiar with your surroundings. Once we're done walking the 94 miles of the route over 7 days you'll have two days exploring St. Andrews, Edinburgh and Lowland Scotland. We have extensive contacts and knowledge here so your wish is our command in terms of helping to organise anything you want to do. Some people go to Roslyn Chapel of Da Vinci code fame for example, which is located outside the city and requires transport.
See the best landscape in Europe and stay fit at the same time, it's a win win!
